Washington and Auburn football face off in a neutral site showdown of playoff-caliber teams. Here are bold predictions for the Tigers and the Huskies.

The biggest game of the opening weekend slate is at 3:30 p.m. ET when the Washington Huskies and Auburn Tigers face off in Atlanta, Ga. This neutral site battle is between the fourth-ranked Huskies and fifth-ranked Tigers per the S&P+ ranking system.

Gus Mazlahn and Chris Petersen are two of college football’s longest tenured coaches and both have been highly successful at their current schools. Petersen took his Huskies to the College Football Playoff semifinal while Malzahn was a late touchdown away from winning the national championship for the 2013 season.

Malzahn’s offense returns a ton of firepower in quarterback Jarrett Stidham, receivers Darrius Slayton and Nate Craig-Myers, and running back Kam Martin. Kevin Steele has been known to put together great defenses since arriving at Auburn and returns an uber-athletic defensive line.

Petersen’s Huskies are the model of consistency and that won’t change with Jake Browning back at quarterback. Myles Gaskin is one of the country’s most underrated players and can make big things happen with the football in his hands. The Huskies defense is always top-notch and that won’t change in 2018.

Here are my three bold predictions for the Auburn vs.Washington matchup.
