College football is a physical game. Here are some of the most notable injuries that will impact teams the most in Week 1 of the 2018 season.

A number of high-profile players will start the season on the sidelines due to various injuries. Other players were forced to retire this offseason due to significant injuries that no longer allow them to play football.

Below, I listed some of the major programs in the country and players that are questionable or will not play in Week 1, including some guys who no longer will be playing football.

These injuries will have major impacts on some of the upcoming games this week and are worth being aware of heading into Week 1 action.

WR Tarik Black, Michigan

According to 247sports, Black was a four-star recruit in 2017 and the top player out of Connecticut. He was projected to be a starting wide receiver in 2018 as a true sophomore.

In 2017, he had a broken left foot that only allowed him to play three games during his freshman year. He had 11 receptions for 149 yards and one touchdown in just three games.

Black was supposed to be the team’s leading receiver in 2018, but this injury may keep him out for a significant portion of the season. Fortunately, it is not the same foot that was injured last season, or this new injury may have ended his football career entirely.

Sophomore wide receivers Nico Collins and Oliver Martin will need to step up to fill Black’s spot for the Wolverines. They are both four-star receivers from the 2017 recruiting class that could be breakout players for Michigan.
