College Football: Top 30 breakout candidates for 2018 season
Did Hunter Bryant break out in 2017? Some would argue that, but the sophomore tight end from Washington isn’t quite a household name, but he will be, thanks to Jake Browning.
Everyone talks about UCLA’s Caleb Wilson or Stanford’s Kaden Smith, but Bryant flew under the radar last season as a freshman, accounting for 331 yards and a touchdown on just 22 catches. That’s what you call making the most of your opportunities.
With more emphasis on getting the athletic tight end the ball in the passing game, Bryant will likely see his numbers increase dramatically. Don’t be surprised if he busts out for 600 yards and five touchdowns on 40-plus receptions.
Washington isn’t returning any starting receivers from last year, so Bryant will be one of the more experienced pass-catchers the offense has to offer. This kid will be money for Browning as he bounces back from a down year.
Bryant will become that household name in 2018.
