Entering the 2018 season, Brian Lewerke could very well be the best quarterback in the Big Ten. There are a handful of other passers in the conference that have the potential to supercede Lewerke by season’s end, but as far as proven production, Lewerke and Penn State quarterback Trace McSorely tower above the rest of the conference.

And yet somehow Lewerke still hasn’t received much national exposure. It might be because he plays for Michigan State instead of Michiga, Penn State or Ohio State. It might be because the Spartans haven’t been in the Playoff hunt for a few years, but regardless of the reason, one more productive year by Lewerke is going to turn heads.

Lewerke threw for 2,793 yards and 20 touchdowns as a sophomore in 2017. He’s only going to get better with on more season under his belt. Head coach Mark Dantonio is going to give him the full breath of the playbook to work with and Lewerke is going to make defenses pay.
