Christian Kirk has traded maroon for red and will lace up his cleats as an Arizona Cardinal in 2018. His departure leaves a void of 71 receptions that someone needs to fill. Damion Ratley, who finished second in receiving yards for the Aggies last season is also in the NFL. He caught 30 passes. His production, when combined with Kirk’s, leaves 101 receptions and 1,613 yards and 16 touchdowns on the table for someone else in 2018.

That someone else is sophomore wideout Jhamon Ausbon, who finished second on the team in receptions last season. The former four-star receiver played his high school ball with Kellen Mond, who was named the starting quarterback for the Aggies’ this season.

Then there’s the Jimbo Fisher factor. Although the move from a spread offense to a pro-style system seems like a downgrade in terms of passing volume it might actually boost Ausbon’s productivity.

A No. 1 wide receiver that can make plays in the redzone has frequently been a part of Fisher’s offenses. Guys like Kelvin Benjamin, Rashad Greene and Nyqwan Murray have all carved out significant roles. Jhamon Ausbon will be next.
