College Football: Top 30 breakout candidates for 2018 season
Quick, name the last time Ohio State didn’t have a star quarterback? The most pedestrian passer in recent memory would probably be Todd Boeckman who led the offense for one year as the bridge quarterback between Troy Smith and Terrelle Pryor. And even Boeckman won 11 games and threw for 25 touchdowns.
Dwayne Haskins is indescribably better than Todd Boeckman. The latest in an outstanding line of passers takes charge of one of the most productive offense in college football and he’s already proven he has what it takes to get the job done. Haskins appeared in eight games last season, completing 70.2 percent of his passes (not a typo).
Haskins preserved a win over riavl Michigan at the Big House. He’s no stranger to big moments, and he’ll have plenty of them playing for the Buckeyes this fall. Armed with running back J.K. Dobbins and Paris Campbell and Terry McLaurin, Haskins should be able to roll out of bed on Saturday morning and produce 300+ yards of total offense with relative ease.
