Oklahoma football looks to get back to the College Football Playoff in 2018, but could the FAU Owls spoil its season with a Week 1 Upset?

The Oklahoma Sooners head into the 2018 season with high expectations following their success a year ago. The only difference is they’ll have a new signal caller, as Heisman Trophy winner, Baker Mayfield, is off to the NFL. But Sooner Nation hopes that Mayfield’s replacement is capable of leading them back to the playoff — even if he’s gone after this year.

Kyler Murray, the five-million dollar man, could be off to the Oakland Athletics at season’s end but his time at Oklahoma should be well spent as the go for another Big 12 title and that path starts with the Florida Atlantic Owls.

In his first season as head coach, Lane Kiffin led the the Owls to their winning season since 2008 and first 10-win season in program history.

Entering 2018, FAU is part of a a handful of teams from the Group of Five that could make the College Football Playoff. An undefeated season and a non-conference win over the Sooners, should propel the Owls into those discussions.

The Sooner’s are favored to win this game, but Oklahoma could be on upset alert if they aren’t careful. Let’s take a look at what could happen in this Week 1 matchup.
