Non-conference games are pivotal to building an impressive resume for the College Football Playoff. Does your team’s game make our Top 25?

One of the most exciting parts of the college football season, are the non-conference matchups. Two teams, from two different conferences, go head-to-head in a game that could decide their season’s fate. Sometimes it’s the big time program from the SEC taking on the middle of the road team in the Big 12, and that’s fine and all, but that doesn’t get college football fans going.

It’s the two teams ranked in the top 25 in Week 1. It gives each fan base bittersweet emotions. They’re excited their team is playing another top ranked team but nervous that things may not go their way. They get nervous, even with double-digit wins. And when they’re victors at the end, they rejoice and get ready for the next opponent. But if they’re on the losing side, the fan hunches over, hands on knees, wondering when things went wrong. All of these emotions before conference play even starts.

Most teams have started agreeing to deals to play each other for several years while others agree to be take on their opponent in a “kickoff” game, hosted by an NCAA sponsor and played at a neutral site. No matter the way, non-conference matchups are great for college football and this season, we had many to chose from to make our list.
