Washington is considered a slight underdog against Auburn for their season opener at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta in Week 1. The Huskies are going to obliterate the defending SEC West champions, taking down the Tigers by multiple touchdowns. Chico McClatcher is going to find tons of room against a secondary that will be starting three new players, and Jake Browning is going to put on a vintage display through the air.
The big star of the month on offense, though, is going to be Myles Gaskin. The veteran running back is going to put up at least 150 rushing yards per game, and he will also be a factor in the passing game out of the backfield. Gaskin will be working to build a potential Heisman case as he helps Washington keep on winning beyond the Auburn showdown.
Washington’s defense is going to experience a regression back to the mean after several years of managing to reload following the exodus of talent. This year the check will finally get cashed, as the Huskies rely heavily on their offense to remain undefeated in the month of September. As the regular season continues into October, the Pac-12 contenders will eventually get up to speed on that side of the ball.
