Washington football often misses the spotlight, playing so many games on the west coast. Saturday is their opportunity to make headlines against Auburn.

Washington and Auburn will meet Saturday in one of the more marquee matchups in the opening week of the college football season. Both teams are legitimate contenders not only for their respective conferences but also for the College Football Playoff.

Auburn was one step away from winning the SEC last season before it fell to Georgia in the conference championship game while Washington finished in second place behind Stanford in the Pac-12 North.

The Huskies checked in at the No. 6 spot in the preseason polls while the Tigers sat a few ticks behind at No. 9. That means their matchup on Saturday will be the only game of the weekend that features a pair of top-10 teams. There are several marquee matchups, but the game betweeb the Huskies and Tigers might carry the most significance.

Here are five reasons why Washington will fly home with a win in its first game of the season.
