Clemson football opened the season against FCS foe Furman and true freshman quarterback Trevor Lawrence looked like the No. 1 quarterback.

Just four quarters into the season, Clemson looks like one of the teams to beat in the national title race. The Tigers were able to stuff the Furman Paladins, which isn’t all that impressive, but they did what some ranked teams weren’t able to do against underdogs in Week 1: dominate on both sides of the ball.

Clemson entered the game with the quarterback battle decided and Kelly Bryant named the starter, but everything may have changed with Trevor Lawrence’s solid game.

This was the perfect test-run for the Tigers as they gear up to take on Texas A&M in College Station next weekend.

What’d we learn from Clemson’s Week 1 blowout of the Furman Paladins?

3. Lyn-J Dixon is going to be a star

There was plenty of excitement surrounding star recruit Lyn-J Dixon and the results from the opener speak for themselves.

The true freshman running back had to split time with Travis Etienne and Tavien Feaster, but was able to break out as the top rusher.

In fact, Feaster and Etienne combined for 14 carries for 84 yards and a touchdown while Dixon led the way with 89 yards on six carries, including a 61-yard rush. The talented back is explosive through the line of scrimmage and looked like the future star in the backfield.

On any other roster, this kid could very well be the starter, but Dixon is behind one of the best one-two punches in the nation. After this performance, that one-two punch may become a three-headed monster.
