Georgia Football: Bulldogs flex might in season opener

A year after finishing second to Alabama, Georgia football kicked off the 2018 season in convincing fashion, pasting Austin Peay, 45-0.

Much like over in Clemson with Kelly Bryant and Trevor Lawrence, the Bulldogs and head coach Kirby Smart didn’t do anything to silence the talk around QB1.

Jake Fromm, who led Georgia to the national title game as a true freshman, was 12 of 16 for 157 yards and two touchdowns. Justin Fields, regarded as one of the top incoming freshman this season, completed 7-of-8 for 63 with a score and 33 yards on the ground.

Could Fields eventually replace Fromm like Fromm did to Jacob Eason a year ago? Only time will tell.

Georgia’s other newcomer, California transfer Demetris Robertson, made an impact. After receiving a waiver to play this year, Robertson took a handoff 72 yards to the end zone. He was held without a catch in limited duty.
