3. Trayveon Williams for Heisman

After only one game against a no-name opponent, this couldn’t possibly be any kind of overreaction- right? Wrong. However, Williams does deserve to have this conversation at least for the week. Will it continue after he faces the strength of the Clemson defense? Who knows.

The junior had a career night- rushing for 240 yards and three scores. Of course, 73 of those yards came on one play straight to the end zone not even five minutes into the game, but that is neither here nor there. He surely lived up to the hype around him this offseason. Don’t believe me? Check the highlights.

Is Trayveon Williams the best player in college football right now? Probably not. But, in his defense as well as those of the Aggie fans calling for his name to be enshrined forever- this is one of the first games of the college football season. From what has been seen of 2018, Williams is the best or at the very least one of them.

Could Trayveon Williams enter the Heisman conversation this season if he keeps up this level of play? Sure. Is he Heisman caliber right this second? I’m not sure, but to say he is winning it at this point in the season is an overreaction of epic proportions.
