The Sooners’ special teams unit provided some scoring when it powered through the Owls’ blockers on a punt and blocked the kick.

The deflected punt was sent backward and was recovered in the end zone for a Sooners’ touchdown.

Special teams is often an aspect of a team — and a game for that matter — that is definitely overlooked. Plays such as blocking a kick, can be important too.

Trey Sermon, a sophomore running back for the Sooners, impressed on one run in particular — a 17-yard run in which be shed a few tacklers and juked his way to the end zone.

Against FAU, the Sooners had a total of five rushing touchdowns between four different running backs. With Anderson, Sermon and other company, Oklahoma should have a quality stable of runners it can turn to for production.

Will the Sooners have the best ground attack in the country? Maybe not, but it has plenty of options to mix and match and challenge defenses.
