3. LSU’s run game remains strong

LSU has a long lineage of great running backs and this year is no different. Nick Brossette stole the show early in the game.

Brossette, a senior, has seen limited playing time in his first three seasons with the Tigers. To his credit, he has been forced to play behind guys like Leonard Fournette and Derrius Guice.

Quarterback Joe Burrow, in his first game with LSU, made an audible at the line of scrimmage with 45 seconds left in the first quarter. That play change resulted in a hand off to Brossette for a 50-yard touchdown run. The next touchdown for Tigers was also a carry by Brossette. The senior finished the game with 125 yards on 22 carries and two touchdowns.

Nick Brossette looks to be the future of the ever-reliable running game for LSU. While Joe Burrow showed poise and confidence under center, it will be the ability to gain yards on the ground that the Tigers will lean on throughout the rest of the season.
