Texas A&M football did what it was supposed to do against Northwestern State. However, some players stood out. Who earned Blitz Stickers on Thursday night?

The Aggies faced off against Northwestern State to open the Jimbo Fisher era and the 2018 season. The 59-7 victory was, all things considered, expected. This team is talented, but overall the match up did not teach us much about them. We saw some depth, some questionable calls and the emergence of a new position for Texas A&M football.

However, this week is now the real deal as the Aggies prepare to face off against Clemson. Before we get into that though, let’s look at some guys who went above and beyond in Week 1.

5. Entire Aggie defense

This one was a hard one to give. Against a lesser opponent, the focus was on depth and an audition of sorts for the real deal that begins Week 2. No one within this unit truly excelled against Northwestern State, but as a unit they did what was supposed to be done.

This defense has a few upperclassmen leaders — Kinglsey Keke, Otaro Alaka, Landis Durham, Donovan Wilson and Tyrel Dodson — as well as quite a few young guns looking to make a name for themselves. Wilson and Alaka were both ejected — questionably — for targeting in the first half. However, the rest put forth a strong performance against a lesser opponent.
