The Badgers Top the Hilltoppers

In Wisconsin’s Week 1 game against the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers, the Badgers took care of business with a 34-3 win. Alex Hornibrook led the offense, completing 17 of 29 passes for 257 yards. Additionally, Hornibrook threw for two touchdowns. While a 58 percent completion percentage may be a little low against a weaker Western Kentucky offense, Hornibrook looked quite comfortable under center.

The bigger story on the Badger’s offense was the stellar performance of Jonathan Taylor. Taylor was already a lead candidate for this year’s Heisman Trophy, and only improved his resume in Week 1. The sophomore rushed for 145 yards on only 18 carries. With two rushing touchdowns and an average of 8.1 yards per carry, Taylor will undoubtedly be a nightmare for future defenses.

In Week 2, Wisconsin hosts the New Mexico Lobos for a game that should be very similar to Week 1. Since Wisconsin played on Friday, the Badgers will have an extra day of rest and preparation. Additionally, playing at Camp Randall Stadium gives New Mexico essentially no chance to win.
