The secondary played lights out

The Irish secondary played very well in the national spotlight on Saturday. Although Shea Patterson had plenty of notoriety, he struggled in his first game under center with the Wolverines. Michigan has been looking for an elite quarterback since Denard Robinson left; Patterson might be that guy, but he certainly isn’t there yet.

Patterson finished the game 20 and 30 for 227 yards and an interception with the QBR of 32.4. He played horribly and it didn’t look like he was in sync with any of his receivers throughout the game.

The standout in the secondary was Aloni Gillman who recorded seven tackles and broke up two passes. If the Fighting Irish can shut down an offense with a lot of talent on a weekly basis, they may be able to run the table and secure a playoff spot, but one game against a Coach who hasn’t used his   QB properly since his NFL days doesn’t mean the secondary is a no-fly zone.
