Winbush will be in New York for the Heisman ceremony

Throughout the game, the announcers mentioned how much Winbush worked on his accuracy in the offseason, but it didn’t look like it the first couple of drives against the Wolverines secondary.

He missed a few open throws and didn’t seem to be in a rhythm for much of the contest. As always he was used heavily in the Notre Dame rushing attack and carried the ball 19 times for 59 yards. Winbush will have to protect himself better or run with more patience as he averaged just over two yards per carry if you take away a long run of 22 yards.

His passing stats were basic at best in a 12 for 22 performance as he threw for 170 yards with a score and a pick. His ability to lead Notre Dame to the victory will have some of their fans talking about the Heisman, and blaming poor play by other units on his mediocre stat line.

Expect them to chirp even louder as Ball State comes in with one of the worst secondaries in the country.
