Several college football stars have already begun to jostle for position in the Heisman Trophy race. Who leads the pack entering Week 2?
Week 1 led to some amazing performances by players hoping to enter the Heisman Trophy discussion. A few rain/lightning delays didn’t slow down a few of the top performers this week.
While Bryce Love struggled, there were a few running backs who made a major statement in Week One. Quarterbacks seemed to rule the day as there were a number of incredible passing performances.
Before I head into the list this week here are a few honorable mentions:
No. 7: Bryce Love, Running Back- Stanford
Love started his 2018 Heisman campaign off to a very slow start, running the ball 18 times for just 29 yards and didn’t find the end zone. He takes on the Trojans in Week Two and while he should have a better game, this poor performance bumps him out of the top-5 for the time being.
No. 6: Mike Weber, Running Back- Ohio State
When healthy, Mike Weber is one of the best running backs in all of college football. While JK Dobbins stole the show in 2017, Weber was back to his usual self against the Beavers. He ran the ball 20 times for 186 yards and three touchdowns. A Week 2 matchup against the Scarlet Knights means another great performance by Weber could be in the works.
