Here are three bold predictions for Notre Dame football as the Irish look to carry their momentum into a Week 2 matchup with Ball State.

After what felt like an eternity’s worth of speculation heading into the renewal of the Notre Dame/Michigan rivalry, we were finally able to see both teams in action. For Michigan fans, some of their worst fears heading into the 2018 season came to reality. However, Irish fans were able to see their team handle the Wolverines in a game that didn’t seem as close as the final indicated.

That game would drop Michigan to 21st in the updated AP Poll while propelling the Irish to 8th in the nation. Both Notre Dame and Michigan will move onto easier opponents as they take on Ball State and Western Michigan, respectively. However, only the Irish run the risk of falling into what many are calling a potential trap game.

However, facing off against a team that finished 2-10 in 2017 should allow the Irish to make quite a few mistakes without jeopardizing their current standing in the AP Poll.

On the flip side, a matchup against the Cardinals presents the potential for some stat-stacking, especially after facing a much more stingy Wolverine defense.

With that said, here are three bold predictions as the Irish look to iron out some kinks against the Ball State Cardinals.
