LSU football had a spectacular kickoff to its season, beating No. 8 Miami in a convincing manner. Here’s everything you needs to know for Week 2.

Opening the season with one of the most impressive — if not the most impressive — victories in college football, LSU looks like one of the teams to beat from the SEC.

Is it too soon to buy into the hype surrounding the Tigers? Probably, but Ed Orgeron had his team more than ready to take down No. 8 Miami in convincing fashion.

Week 2 doesn’t present nearly as intriguing a matchup as Joe Burrow and the Tigers’ offense will face off against Southeastern Louisiana in a cakewalk. This is a chance for the former Ohio State quarterback to gain some extra confidence before heading into conference action.

The LSU defense should have no problem dominating Southeastern Louisiana which just lost 34-31 to UL-Monroe.

Keys to Victory

The Tigers just need to keep this one simple and do what they did against Miami but the Lions’ offense is nowhere near as potent as the Hurricanes’ was. On offense, getting Burrow going through the air to get him some confidence will no t only work in the short term against the Lions, but also down the line against SEC foes. Step on the gas and don’t let up.

For Southeastern Louisiana, there may not be just one key to victory as this win seems almost impossible, but if the Lions want to even think about an upset, they need to shut down the run game and force Burrow to carry the offense on his own. Control Nick Brossette and the rest of the offense may struggle.

Prediction

This one won’t even be close — no offense, SE Louisiana. The Tigers will get up 31-0 by halftime and the reserves will take over for most of the second half but the defense will stand strong all game. Sorry, Lions, you don’t have much of a chance here. Burrow will pass for over 250 yards and Brossette will rush for 150 while the defense holds the Lions to under 200 yards.

Final Score: Southeastern Louisiana 0, LSU 45
