UCLA football fell at home to Cincinnati in their opening game of the Chip Kelly era, but that doesn’t mean the Bruins can’t threaten Oklahoma in Week 2.

Winning the press conference isn’t any program’s objective during the offseason, but that’s what UCLA accomplished when they hired Chip Kelly away from the NFL. The former Oregon head coach and offensive wizard returns to the Pac-12 with a pedigree of success and a dearth of talent.

Talent wasn’t enough to smooth over the growing pains UCLA experienced in the first game under Kelly. A feisty Cincinnati squad upset the Bruins at home, sending fans and media into a whirlwind of despair. Will UCLA crater in Kelly’s first season? Can the Bruins be fixed?

A losing team is never as bad as people think and a winning team is never as good as people assume they are. That’s the backdrop for the Week 2 game between UCLA and Oklahoma. The Bruins have already been written off by most and Oklahoma is assumed to finish the weekend 2-0. But UCLA isn’t going down without a fight.
