Oklahoma football kept the good times going in Norman on Saturday, staying undefeated against UCLA. Here are three takeaways from the Sooners win over the Bruins.

In their first encounter in over a decade, Oklahoma hosted UCLA in Norman on Saturday. The Sooners took down the Bruins 49-21 to move to 2-0 on the season and keep pace with the other top contenders for this year’s College Football Playoff.

Chip Kelly‘s squad put in an admirable performance on the road, taking an early lead before falling behind 21-7 at the half. For a while it looked like the Bruins had a legitimate shot at upsetting their ranked foe to get back on track after an opening loss to Cincinnati.

But one of the youngest teams in the country couldn’t keep up that pace against their more experienced opponents. Against a squad as deep and skilled as the Sooners, though, UCLA had no chance of hanging in there for a full four quarters. Once they got rolling, Oklahoma revealed why they might just be better than last year’s conference championship squad led by a Heisman winner.

Lincoln Riley’s team remains on track for a shot at a playoff berth and an undefeated regular season after staying unbeaten against the Bruins. What else did we learn from the Sooners victory at home against their Pac-12 opponent? Here are three big takeaways from the Week 2 win by the defending Big 12 champions.
