Texas A&M football was the victim of a blown call on Saturday night against Clemson which cost the Aggies a major upset victory.

As a fan, there’s nothing worse than watching your team suffer a controversial call that goes the opposite direction. If you’re a Texas A&M, your heart dropped on Saturday night as Quartney Davis fumbled the ball near the end zone which the referees dubbed a touchback in favor of Clemson.

You can watch the play here, but if you’re a Texas A&M fan, nothing can convince you that this isn’t a fumble out of bounds and not through the end zone.

The Aggies were able to come back and stop the Tigers on their next drive to get the ball back with less than two minutes left in the game and Kellen Mond made the plays he was making all game to lead the Aggies to a big touchdown.

Unfortunately, they weren’t able to complete the two-point conversion, but this is one of those calls that could have halted the momentum of the Aggies and forced them to spend all of their timeouts instead of keeping them for their final defensive drive, getting the ball back with a chance to win on a field goal — even if they had missed the two-point conversion.

This is a call that could have costed the Aggies a big upset win and the referees should never be in the position to decide the game.

No, it wasn’t clear that the wrong call was made, but it’s not something that should have decided the game — if you’re not sure, you call it out of bounds as to not decide the outcome.
