The Heisman Trophy race has started to shape up. One running back has shined this season and a few quarterbacks are making pushes to the award too.

The second full weekend of college football games showed a number of players putting up good performances against quality competition. We have a few changes at the top and a few names introducing themselves to the Top 5, but let’s get to the players who almost made the cut.

Honorable Mentions

7. Mike Weber- Running back, Ohio State

Weber had a rough game against the Scarlet Knights. While he has put up great numbers against them in previous meetings, he just couldn’t get things going in this game. He finished with eight carries for 31 yards and will need to have a better game if the Buckeyes plan on beating TCU.

6. Bryce Love- Running back, Stanford

The preseason favorite to win the Heisman Trophy hasn’t gotten off to the best start. When you look at his stat line of 22 carries for 136 yards and a score it looks like a solid performance. However, once you factor in that Love averaged just 2.45 yards per carry on 20 of those 22 carries, it shows that he still isn’t making the consistent plays needed from a Heisman Trophy winner.

Here’s the first look at this week’s Heisman power rankings.
