4. Joey Alfieri, Linebacker

The Stanford defense was the leading factor for their win Saturday night, forcing three turnovers and applying pressure to the quarterback. Linebacker Joey Alfieri was giving Trojans’ quarterback J.T. Daniels headaches all night, earning 1.5 sacks, a forced fumble and one quarterback hurry. In addition to his time spent in the USC backfield, Alfieri finished the game with five total tackles.

It’s still early in the season but after two games, Alfieri is on pace to record 15 sacks on the season. Emerging as one of the nation’s best pass rushers, Alfieri could earn himself an All-American plaque at the rate he is going.

Whether he keeps his game going, or simmers down, Joey Alfieri still played a huge role in one Stanford’s biggest games of the season, earning himself Week 2 honors of our Blitz Stickers.
