Texas A&M Football: 5 overreactions from heartbreaker vs. Clemson
By Shelbie Warr
Texas A&M football fought tooth and nail, coming up just short of an upset. Of course it’s time for overreactions. You didn’t expect anything less right?
The Aggies and the Clemson Tigers took the field on Saturday night for what everyone thought would be a blow out that would send Jimbo Fisher and the Aggies back to the locker room licking their wounds. That is, however, not at all what happened. Texas A&M stood toe to toe with the No. 2 team in the nation, taking them down to the final seconds in a thriller that no one saw coming.
While the Aggies haven’t made their way into the Top 25 yet, a topic I could spend hours on but for your benefit I will refrain, they are well on their way. This team put the nation on notice as they took the Clemson Tigers to the fringe live from Kyle Field in a game that had the whole house rocking — literally.
With that, let’s get to overreacting, shall we?
5. It’s time for Nick Starkel to start thinking transfer destinations
On Saturday night, Kellen Mond made one thing clear- he is the captain now. His counter part, Nick Starkel, came in for one play where the Aggies were threatening to score on the Tigers while Mond was struggling with a cramp and managed to cough up the ball.
Against Northwestern State, he didn’t exactly look very strong against a lowly opponent.
This may be the overreaction to end all overreactions, but at this point it may be time for Starkel to start looking at other places to continue his collegiate career. This is Mond’s team now and from what I have seen, there are other quarterbacks on the roster that may get the nod over Starkel at this point if something were to happen to him.
Am I crazy? Maybe, but that is the point of overreactions after all.
