1. The Aggie defense can hang in the SEC

I think I have had this reaction multiple times, but it is the most important takeaway from the last two weeks for me in terms of Aggie football. Yes, the offense has been impressive. Yes, the young guys at receiver have impressed the nation with their abilities and their fighting spirit. However, not enough has been said about this much improved defensive unit and it is my job to do just that.

The Aggies have quite a few experienced players on this side of the ball including seniors Otaro Alaka and Kingsley Keke, junior Tyrel Dodson and fifth year senior Donovan Wilson. They also have a few youngins making big plays in big places — like Anthony Hines III and Leon O’ Neal Jr. just to to name a few. I could list name after name, but that isn’t the focus of the Aggie defense this season and that is what has made them good. This unit is finally working as just that, a unit.

They had the Clemson offense under pressure all game long allowing their offense the chances they need to find a win before the clock hit zero. Even though that isn’t what ultimately happened, this unit deserves kudos for what they were able to accomplish on Saturday night and how much they have grown under Mike Elko this offseason. Keep an eye on these guys during SEC play, they could make life difficult for quite a few guys.
