College football is no stranger to weather delays, but incoming Hurricane Florence could lead to the postponement and cancelations of some Week 3 games.
Let’s start of this news update with an important caveat: I’m not a weatherman. Although let’s be fair, weather professionals tend to be as accurate as college football “experts” picking games, so this update should be more than sufficient for football fans.
Here’s the situation. Boston College and Wake Forest are scheduled to kick off Week 3 in Winston-Salem on Thursday evening. Weather permitting, and that might come into play more than once this week, that all-ACC affair will be played a few hours earlier than expected. That’s the first of several games this weekend that will be affected this weekend.
When and where is Florence projected to hit?
The eastern seaboard is the projected landing spot for the storm, which is expected to make landfall early Friday morning. The state of South Carolina has issued evacuation orders for the coast, putting the possibility of football being played anytime this weekend in jeopardy.
There are a handful of FBS games currently scheduled to take place this weekend near the projected landing zone. We’ll keep this list updated with any announcement(s).
