Oklahoma football is in the market for revenge against Iowa State, but the Cyclones aren’t going down easy in Ames.

It’s been the tale of two different stories for Iowa State and Oklahoma to start the 2018 college football season. Iowa State began the year with a five-minute performance against South Dakota State that was eventually cancelled due to severe weather.

A week later they traveled to Iowa City where their defense played outstanding, but their offense had their teeth kicked in by a stout Iowa defense in the 13-3 defeat. With Oklahoma looming, things look to be getting interesting in Ames.

On the other hand, Oklahoma couldn’t have asked for a better start to the season. The Sooners absolutely annihilated a good FAU team in their season-opener 63-14 as Kyler Murray dazzled many with his highlight-reel plays.

The following week, Oklahoma took care of Chip Kelly’s UCLA Bruins 49-21 in Norman. Lincoln Riley couldn’t ask for a better start to the post-Baker Mayfield era and his new quarterback looks every bit as explosive, if not more so.

There is no question there will be plenty of offensive highlights in this game as both teams possess dangerous playmakers in the open field, such as David Montgomery for Iowa State and Kyler Murray for Oklahoma, but these predictions might have a little more to do with defense than the Big 12 heavy offense.
