Auburn football hosts LSU in the only real exciting SEC matchup this week. Can The Tigers tame their Louisiana counterparts on the Plains?

This matchup, live from Jordan-Hare is the SEC opener for both of these teams. Much like South Carolina vs. Georgia last week, this one could be an elimination game in terms of winning the SEC West. Both teams have strengths and weaknesses coming into this one, everybody does. However, the question right now is which team is able to exploit the other’s weaknesses the best.

For me, the answer is easy- the Auburn Tigers. Now, let’s talk about the how and why.

5. A home game for the Auburn Tigers

Jordan-Hare is no joke y’all. The home team always has the advantage of crowd noise, however, at Jordan-Hare it’s different. Let’s throw it back to 2017, where the Auburn Tigers hosted both Georgia and Alabama. The Tigers won both of those games, partly because of the sheer amount of talent on the field and partly because the crowd was into it from the first snap.

I am convinced that with this game, the crowd’s energy will be necessary and electric. Any football player will tell you that playing is a lot more fun when those who are watching you are into it. Look for home field advantage to be big for the Tigers on Saturday. Under head coach Gus Malzhan, Auburn is 21-1 at home when ranked in the AP poll, and the Tigers are also 7-0 all-time in matchups of AP-ranked teams in Jordan-Hare Stadium. Take those stats as you will.

As linebacker Darrell Williams said, “You just have to take it to another level playing in front of that home crowd. You have to protect your house.”
