Week 3 of college football will be without many star players and even a Heisman candidate due to injuries, forcing many teams to rely on backups.

Hurricane Florence has caused many college administrators to cancel college football games this weekend, but multiple games still remain. Here is an injury report for notable quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers, and defensive players that are battling injuries entering Week 3.

Quarterback Injuries

Adrian Martinez – Nebraska

Nebraska’s Adrian Martinez did not practice on Wednesday with a knee injury. The Cornhuskers lost a close game last weekend against Colorado and will look to bounce back against Troy, but they may have to play without their star freshman quarterback, who leads the team in rushing and passing yards.

Wilton Speight – UCLA

Wilton Speight sat out UCLA’s game last weekend due to a back injury, and he is questionable for their game on Saturday against Fresno State. The former Michigan quarterback is very important for the Bruins, who are currently 0-2 and in danger of falling to 0-3 if they lose to Fresno State this weekend.

AJ Bush – Illinois

A.J. Bush is another starting quarterback battling an injury Week 3. The Illinois starting quarterback suffered a leg injury last game and is questionable for their matchup against South Florida.

Bush transferred from Virginia Tech and had 223 passing yards while completing 60% of his passes through two games in 2018. He also had 142 rushing yards this season before suffering an injury, which is tied with leading running back Reggie Corbin. Illinois is 2-0 this season and could use Bush in Saturday’s game to help compensate for some of the receivers they have lost early in the season.
