1. Last Week’s Performance

I don’t think there is any way Iowa State can perform as poorly as they did the last week in Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City. Only managing 188 yards of total offense the entire game, their lowest output since October 2013 against Baylor. Most of the day the offense just could not find any rhythm against a stout Iowa defense, which raised levels of concern among many Iowa State fans.

With another week of practice to go over corrections offensively, Iowa State should look more like the team everyone will expect them to be in 2018. Oklahoma’s best pass rusher from a season ago has jumped to the NFL, giving Iowa State a slight advantage up front against a porous Oklahoma defense. Running back David Montgomery should have a big day against this Oklahoma defense.

All the defense has to do is fight through adversity and not tire like they did against Iowa. The Cyclones have the chance to be a dominant team defensively in a conference as offensively-driven like the Big 12, which is nothing to scoff at. The cornerback tandem of DeAndre Payne and Brian Peavy will need to play a big role, as well as freshman middle linebacker Mike Rose.
