LSU football has gotten off to a red-hot start in 2018 and a road game against No. 7 Auburn is up next. Here’s why Ed Orgeron’s team will pull off the upset.

What a start to the year it’s been for LSU. The Tigers probably weren’t expecting a top-15 matchup in Week 3 of the season against Auburn, and truly no SEC fan was, but here we are as both sides are battling it out for early-season College Football Playoff positioning.

The LSU Tigers, led by Ed Orgeron, have soared up the polls with a win over No. 8 Miami in the opener and a shutout of Southeastern Louisiana in Week 2.

On the other hand, Auburn has wins over No. 6 Washington and Alabama State. Both sides have had an eerily similar start to the season, but who’ll pull out the win in Auburn on Saturday night?

In the battle of the Tigers, LSU will pull off the upset, and here’s why.

5. Jarrett Stidham will struggle again

It’s hard to believe Jarrett Stidham, arguably the best quarterback in the conference, will struggle against LSU at home, but his worst career game with Auburn came against these same Tigers a year ago — and the defense may be even better.

Trust me, this isn’t an easy prediction, but Stidham is going to have one of his worst career performances against the Tigers for the second straight season.

LSU is playing with some serious confidence right now and though the Tigers haven’t faced a quarterback the caliber of Stidham this season, the secondary has been solid and is only getting better. It allowed 259 yards to Malik Rosier, but he completed just 15-of-35 attempts and ended up throwing a couple of picks to just one touchdown pass.

The Tigers will put pressure on Stidham and allow just one touchdown score to the talented quarterback — only their second touchdown pass allowed on the year.
