Memphis football made short work of Georgia State in a big blowout at the Liberty Bowl. Here is what we learned from the Tigers rout of the Panthers on Friday night.

After a blowout of FCS Mercer on the opening weekend of the 2018 season, Memphis lost its perfect record as quickly as they secured their first victory. The Tigers fell back in both the AAC West standings and the Group of Five pecking order after stumbling against Navy in Week 2. The 22-21 loss to the Midshipmen dropped Memphis to 0-1 in conference play and gave them a Sisyphean task in trying to get back to contention for a New Year’s Six berth.

Because of all that, Memphis came out on Friday night and took out their frustrations on visiting Georgia State at the Liberty Bowl. Mike Norvell’s squad walked away from their home turf with a massive 59-22 victory over the Panthers, racking up nearly 700 total yards of offense as they rebounded from their loss the previous week in resounding fashion.

Not everything was perfect, but the Tigers did more than enough to walk away victors and ensure the non-conference victory. Digging further into the results on Friday night, here are three things to take away from the way Memphis dominated their Sun Belt opponent.
