2. Brandon Wimbush will tuck and run more

If there’s one thing Notre Dame needs to do, it’s allow Brandon Wimbush to do what comes natural to him more often.

Against Ball State, Wimbush struggled because it was clear the Irish wanted to get him going in the pass game — almost to a fault. Actually, it was to a fault as Wimbush was struggling with his accuracy and the coaching staff kept pushing the pass because, well, the Irish were playing Ball State and not Alabama.

Wimbush finished the game with a 17-for-31 stat line with 297 yards and no touchdowns which may not seem all that bad, but even with a completion rate over 50 percent, he was slinging the ball to all the wrong places, throwing three interceptions. He also ran the ball 11 times for -7 yards, getting sacked plenty in the process.

Kelly and the coaching staff need to let him loose and allow him to run more, that way he will gain confidence and the passing attack will take care of itself.

That’ll happen against Vanderbilt as he rushes for over 100 yards and passes for 200 more.
