Coming off a tough loss to Clemson in Week 2, Texas A&M Football hosts UL-Monroe in a game that could get out of hand quickly.

Texas A&M enters Week 3 of the college football with a bad taste in its mouth after the Aggies fell just short of beating the Clemson Tigers.

In this early-season instant classic, quarterback Kellen Mond had a breakout performance, passing for 430 yards and three touchdowns. His favorite target was Kendrick Rogers, who also had a big time game, catching seven passes for 120 yards and three touchdowns.

Mond and Rogers stepped up when the Aggies needed them to the most, as Clemson’s top-ranked defensive line shut down running back Trayveon Williams, holding him to 31 yards on 17 carries.

But expect all phases of their offense to be on their ‘A’ game against UL-Monroe. The Warhawks have the fourth worst passing defense allowing over 370 yards a game, so expect another big game from the new Heisman contender, Kellen Mond. Now some may view this is a trap game, suffering a loss last week and play Alabama next week, but Jimbo Fisher has shown the impact he has made o this team early, and all the things we saw in the Kevin Sumlin era are now a thing in the past.

Aggies fans will watch this game until the end, but all other college football fans, especially those in Texas, will be tuning in to the TCU Horned Frogs’ game versus the Ohio State Buckeyes or the Texas Longhorns’ game against the USC Trojans.

But whether you’re an Aggie, or someone who loves a beat down here’s everything you need to know about Saturday’s game:

Date: Saturday, Sept. 15
Time: 7:30 p.m. ET
Location: College Station, Texas
Venue: Kyle Field
TV: SEC Network
Live Stream: WatchESPN or FuboTV

Keys to Victory

As mentioned before, this game could be a trap game for the Aggies. All they need is one solid half of football to put this game away. Last week is over with and next week doesn’t matter with an upset loss against UL-Monroe. Just stick to the game plan, stay focused and don;t play down to the competition’s level.

And with UL-Monroe having one of the nation’s worst passing defenses, Kellen Mond should have another big game, and if things go accordingly, he’ll get to sit out most of the second half. Whether the passing game is clicking or not, building Trayveon Williams confidence back up is a priority in this game. Get him the ball and let him break off a couple big runs to let some frustration out following his performance last week.

The Aggies will practically have to hand this game over to the Warhawks for UL-Monroe to win and I really don’t see that happening.

Prediction

Kellen Mond throws just short of 200 yards but connects with his receivers for three touchdowns, giving himself a second half to start watching film on the Crimson Tide. Meanwhile, running back Trayveon Williams finds the end zone twice, rushing for over 150 yards on less than 15 carries. Williams too finds himself holding a clipboard for most of the second half as the Aggies offense is too much for the Warhawks.

And the same exact outcome on offense, will take place on defense for the Aggies. Texas A&M forces several turnovers and prevents the Warhawks from crossing the 50-yard line for most of the first half. Valuable playing time for second and third string players will be handed out as the defense pitches a three-quarter shutout, in their dominating win over UL-Monroe.

Final Score: Texas A&M 59, UL-Monroe 10
