1. The Longhorns won’t be able to get our of their own way

So far this season, the Texas offense has been less than ideal and their defense hasn’t been much better. There isn’t a pass rush like their used to be. They aren’t getting pressure on the quarterback and making plays in the backfield. Penalties keep adding up and the offense can’t seem to keep their foot on the gas and make the big plays when necessary. In the red zone, this team has been less than successful and that could doom them against the Trojans.

QB Sam Ehlinger has been semi-decent at quarterback, but truly we never know which version of him is going to show up. Trojans’ quarterback JT Daniels hasn’t been all that great either and as of right now has a banged up hand. However, a strong running game and a semi-consistent defense has kept the Trojans afloat — to a point.

Both of these teams are fighting for a return to what used to be, to national relevancy that they once had. Neither team will be particularly exciting on Saturday night, but the Longhorns will likely get in their own way and that will allow USC to make the plays necessary to get the win in Austin.

Sorry Texas, it’s not really looking like 2018 will be your season to be officially “back.” However, don’t worry- no matter what happens you will be ranked in the preseason rankings for 2019 because everyone believes that Texas will turn it around each and every year.
