2. Joe Moorhead’s offense is very effective

The option play is allowing Fitzgerald to run the ball and be the leader of the offense. There were also many plays for Fitzgerald to hit his receivers across the middle of the field.

Moorhead’s offense has been very effective the first few weeks of the season. The offense averaged 578 yards in the first two games against SFA and Kansas State.

Against Louisiana Lafayette, Mississippi State scored seven touchdowns in their first seven drives of the game. Their third-down conversion rate helped as well as they converted on 8-of-11 opportunities

The effectiveness of Moorhead’s offense is not surprising considering his past coaching experiences. For example, he was the offensive coordinator that vastly improved under his leadership.

In two seasons at Penn State, Moorhead’s offense averaged more than 425 yards per game. Of course, he had Trace McSorley and Saquon Barkley in the backfield, but he has a knack for using the talent he has very effectively.
