In a game laden with penalties, Texas A&M football found victory against the Warhawks. What did we learn about this team before they head to Alabama?

The Aggies beat the Warhawks, 48-10. A slow start caused early struggles, but overall this team showed quite a bit of depth and talent from across the roster. However, we also saw quite a few injuries and that isn’t at all what Aggie fans and coaches wanted to see.

Kicker Daniel LaCamera and receiver Kendrick Rogers were already out- both on the sideline with boots on, and no not the fun country western kind. LaCamera even rolled in with a scooter to hold his leg up. Now, Erik McCoy is dealing with an inflamed knee. Even the 12th Man- Cullen Gillaspia spent some time on the ground.

Now, before I find some way to join the group of the injured, let’s talk takeaways.

3. Holding penalties will be the death of the Aggie offense.

The Aggies had what seemed like touchdown after touchdown called back due to holding. They won 48-10, but that score could and should have been way higher without holding penalties on holding penalties. There really weren’t many other penalties on the maroon and white that weren’t due to holding.

Simply put, in the SEC, you can’t exactly let yourself get in your own way. This was a sloppy win for sure and the Aggies have quite a bit to clean up, but a win is a win. We head into SEC West play this week and the Aggies have to learn and grow if they want to be successful.
