Following a huge Week 3 home win for Oklahoma State football over the Boise State Broncos, the 2018 slate lines up very friendly for a nice run.

With a huge victory over the Boise State Broncos in Week 3 of the 2018 season, Oklahoma State football is set to be a major player in the Big 12 this year. Oklahoma State handled Boise State through and through in a pretty surprising outing. All in all, the Cowboys were not expected to deal with this high-powered Boise State offense led by senior quarterback Brett Rypien so easily.

Yet, the Oklahoma State pass rush got to Rypien all game and rattled him especially in the second half. Oklahoma State managed a whopping seven sacks of Rypien in this game while the Boise State offensive line just couldn’t hold up. The defensive coordinator for the Pokes, Jim Knowles, looks to be making a huge impact for that side of the ball just three games into the season.

There was progress across the board for head Oklahoma State football coach Mike Gundy in this one, especially with senior quarterback Taylor Cornelius. After a shaky start to the season for Cornelius, he was locked in against what looked to be a solid Boise State defense that is returning a ton of starters this fall.

Cornelius wound up with three total touchdowns and no interceptions in this win. Moreover, star junior running back Justice Hill was huge for the Pokes with more than 120 rushing yards and one touchdown. A pair of wide receivers in Tylan Wallace and Dillon Stoner powered the passing game with more than 150 combined receiving yards and two touchdowns.

In Week 4, Oklahoma State gets its first crack at Big 12 play with a home matchup against Kliff Kingsbury‘s Texas Tech Red Raiders at Boone Pickens Stadium. This is the fourth straight home game for the Pokes to start the 2018 season.

Oklahoma State landed at No. 15 in the Week 4 edition of the Coaches Poll. We’ll see where the Pokes land in the Week 4 AP Poll after getting the No. 24 slot in Week 3. With an easier schedule upcoming for the Pokes for at least the next five weeks, there’s a clear opportunity to make a huge jump in the rankings and make a real run at the College Football Playoff out of Stillwater.
