Arkansas Football: 3 things Razorbacks must fix before SEC play
By Shelbie Warr
1. This team needs to buy into Morris and he has to buy into the team.
I can tell you right now that this team has not bought into the Chad Morris and his coaching staff. They are trying to change the culture at Arkansas, however, to do that both sides have to buy into each other. Look at teams like A&M or Mississippi State, teams with a new head coach who haven’t missed a beat since the change. Yes, the Razorbacks have been less than successful in years past, but this is even worse.
Over and over in the past weeks, the camera would pan over to Morris on the sideline and he would look lost. His players did not fare much better and that will not fair well with them in SEC play, especially not on the Plains of Auburn University.
Now, I haven’t been inside the Arkansas locker room. I don’t know how their team works. What I do know is that the fans are upset- at everyone. Fans booed Cole Kelley most of the second half. Those who were excited for Morris to take over the program are now ready to fire the man who only has three weeks under his belt.
Will Morris last the season? Maybe, maybe not. What we do know is that he hasn’t started the season well and heading to Auburn doesn’t seem like a promising scenario to better the season. If the Razorbacks and Chad Morris want to compete in the SEC they have to buy into each other and so far they haven’t done so at all.
