Talk about a rough start to the season, you really can’t have a much harder start in college football than Iowa State has. Their first week game was wiped out because of weather concerns, erasing what would’ve been an easy first win. They followed that with an Iowa team that may be the Big Ten West favorite, and then on Saturday, an Oklahoma team that looks like a playoff contender.

Despite the tough slate, Iowa State looked pretty good against Oklahoma. Despite the injury to Kyle Kempt last week, the offense looked just fine with Zeb Noland in there, and Iowa State was able to give Oklahoma a fight until very late in the game. I think Iowa State will get better as the season goes on, and likely move out of this spot shortly.

Kansas isn’t last. I repeat, Kansas, like the Kansas Jayhawks, aren’t the worst team in the Big 12 this week, for the first time in maybe a decade. The Jayhawks are on an actual winning streak, against actual FBS teams, including their massive win this past week against Rutgers, a real, actual power five team. Kansas beat a power five football team 55-14. I don’t know what to think anymore.

Now that Kansas is unstoppable, their ascent to the top of the conference will be swift, and the warpath will be paved with seven poor fools that try to interrupt the reckoning, as Kansas thunders towards their matchup with Oklahoma on Nov. 17. The Big 12 is officially on notice. The Jayhawks have tasted blood, and somehow, turned deadly. We can only hope Kansas will have mercy on all who mocked them.
