Ohio State Football: How does Nick Bosa injury affect Buckeyes?
Nick Bosa has undergone surgery and could be out for a while. How does the talented defensive end’s injury affect Ohio State football’s title hopes?
Arguably the most dominant defensive lineman in all of college football has suffered an injury, had surgery and is out indefinitely, per Urban Meyer. Nick Bosa’s absence will definitely take a toll on Ohio State’s defensive line, but he isn’t the only player the Buckeyes have at the position.
Losing a defensive end who had 14 tackles and four sacks in three games is a tough blow, but how does this affect the Buckeyes in the long-run?
Sure, it could make life easier on opposing quarterbacks, but we are acting like the Buckeyes don’t already have an elite defense with a secondary that can hold its own with a second or two longer in coverage.
Moreover, Chase Young, Tyreke Smith, Tyler Friday and Jonathan Cooper will be there to clean up the position. There’s no need to panic if you’re Ohio State, Bosa will likely be back before the end of the season which means games against Michigan State and Michigan.
Unfortunately, his status for the Penn State game isn’t looking positive, but the Buckeyes should hold their own up front against the Nittany Lions without him.
Does this truly affect the Buckeyes’ title chances? On any other team, this would be a gigantic blow and something that it may not come back from, but the Buckeyes have four and five-star depth at every position, so they won’t suffer much without him. Sure, his presence will be missed and his replacement won’t be quite as dominant, but he’ll be back causing problems for offenses soon enough.
Don’t fret, Buckeye fans, losing Bosa only hurts a little, like a paper cut, but give it a couple of days and the defense will be back to its normal, dominant self.
