2. Juwan Johnson has three touchdown receptions

Johnson has been quiet early in the season. He has eight receptions for 80 yards and no touchdowns. Entering this season, Johnson was expected to be one of the team’s leading receiver, if not the number one option.

DeAndre Thompkins has become the deep threat, and Brandon Polk and K.J. Hamler lead the team with two touchdown receptions each. Even though Hamler has been the star thus far this season, the passing attack for Penn State has been very balanced to start the season.

Johnson is the tallest starting receiver at six feet and four inches, and his size should allow him to dominate smaller defensive backs. Last season, Johnson had 54 receptions and 701 receiving yards, which both ranked second on the team.

Expect Johnson to have a big game against Illinois, who has struggled to lock down opposing receivers. McSorley and Johnson will rekindle that chemistry that was a major part of Penn State’s offense last season.
