Texas is coming off a big win against USC, TCU football is licking its wounds from a heart-breaker against Ohio State. Things just got interesting going into Big 12 play.

Ah, there is nothing like Texas football in the fall. The weather has cooled off to a brisk 95 degrees, the tailgates are in full swing serving up BBQ and cheeseburgers, and middle-aged guys with giant beer bellies can relive their glory years while getting smashed drinking large amounts of alcohol.

Now that’s what I call paradise.

And in the backdrop of all this action will be quite a big game for both the University of Texas Longhorns and TCU football.

Tom Herman needs this win badly to establish legitimacy  and put the Horns back on firm footing in the Big XII. TCU, on the other hand, looks to maintain its standing as one of the top two teams in the league and eye higher ambitions after testing themselves against one of the best teams in college football last week and coming up short.

So without further adieu, here are three bold predictions for TCU vs. Texas in beautiful Austin, Texas.

3. It’s not training unless its raining

The Weather Channel is currently reporting a 90 percent chance of rain in the Austin area for this Saturday’s contest. So all that fun stuff I mentioned earlier about how great football is in Texas in the fall might be going out the window if the weather forecast is correct. Well, to be fair middle aged chubby guys will still be getting sloshed even if it is raining, but the product on the field may suffer.

TCU fans already went through a game in a torrential downpour vs. SMU in Dallas where the play on the field was as sloppy as it gets. While I’m sure it’s fun to be a player on the field while its raining, its not so fun as a fan.

Expect a lot of smash mouth football if the rain starts pouring down.
