Stanford Defense

The Stanford Cardinal defense is one of the best in the nation and could be the best in all of the Pac-12. The Cardinal defense is allowing just over 300 yards per game, allowing a 33 percent conversion rate on third downs and have allowed their opponents to score a combined two touchdowns on the season. The Oregon offense has put up some big numbers early on this season, but has yet to be tested by a defense. And in last year’s matchup, the Cardinal completely shutdown the Ducks, winning 49-7.

Now that same result shouldn’t be expected as Oregon has more experience and a new head coach, but the Stanford defense is the biggest reason why the Cardinal will win this game. With six turnovers and nine sacks, this highly ranked defense should be able to put a cap on the Duck’s offense. A blowout is not to be expected, but a big time turnover to put the game away, well that sounds just about right.

From their three biggest stars on offense to their top ranked defense, the Stanford Cardinal will dominate the time of possession and defeat the Ducks, leaving Eugene, OR with a victory and a commanding lead over the Pac-12 North.

Prediction: Stanford 31, Oregon 24.
