Clemson Football: 3 takeaways from blowout victory over Georgia Tech
2. Travis Etienne is picking up some serious steam
After a slow start to the season, Travis Etienne has been picking up some serious steam. He had just 107 yards rushing and two touchdowns on 19 carries through the first two weeks, but he’s bounced back with back-to-back 100-yard games, and that has to be music to Dabo Swinney’s ears.
Etienne picked up 162 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries against Georgia Southern last week to kind of burst out of that quiet early-season bubble, but he backed it up with 122 yards and a touchdown on 11 touches versus Georgia Tech.
The sophomore was one of college football’s top breakout candidates and it’s easy to see why. He’s an electric runner who can break off a 30-40 yard run at any moment and make it look relatively easy. He’s averaging over 10 yards per carry over the past two games which is bad news for the rest of the ACC.
This offense with Etienne playing well and the quarterback position starting to finally take shape should be terrifying for opponents moving forward.
