As Florida State football prepares to face Northern Illinois, fans are wondering when the turnaround will take place. Could it be Week 4?

Three games into the Willie Taggart era, Florida State fans are already wondering if their team’s run near the top of the ACC is over.

Florida State had a rough season in Jimbo Fisher’s last year in Tallahassee, barely making a bowl game, but the Seminoles seemed to be heading toward greener pastures with Taggart taking his dream job. Unfortunately, that hasn’t been the case.

Being the laughing stock of the ACC can’t be much fun, but the Seminoles could bounce back against Northern Illinois in Week 4.

After blowout losses to Virginia Tech and Syracuse and a close win over Samford at home, the Seminoles need a big game against Northern Illinois.

Florida State needs a win here to regain some confidence, but will the Seminoles finally break out?

3. Cam Akers breaks 100 yards (finally)

Opening the season with an 82-yard performance on 14 carries against Virginia Tech seemed like a decent start to the season for the sophomore who broke 1,000 yards as a true freshman in 2017.

In each game since, he’s seen his numbers dwindle.

Akers rushed for 76 yards and 52 yards against Samford and Syracuse, respectively. He’s been averaging over 5.0 yards per carry in each game but has yet to crack the elusive 100-yard mark, but that’ll change on Saturday afternoon.

The sophomore running back will rush for 133 yards and a touchdown on just 15 carries, making his mark on the outcome.
